Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and protecting our children and young people at HNC. All posts are subject to a safer recruitment process which includes enhanced criminal records and barring checks, scrutiny of employment history, robust referencing and other vetting checks. All shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online search in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. The successful candidate will also be subject to additional relevant background and safeguarding checks.
Our safeguarding system is underpinned by policies and procedures which encourage and promote safe working practice across HNC. On joining you will be required to undergo continuous professional development to maintain safe working practice and to safeguard our children and young people.
Please be aware that where a role is engaged in regulated activity relevant to children, it is an offence for anyone to apply for the role if they are on the children's barred list. Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy can be located on our website

“Safeguarding is genuinely at the heart of everything we do, and we have an open, transparent and effective approach where both staff and students understand what they need to do if they have a concern. By its very nature safeguarding can of course be challenging. However, it is incredibly rewarding when we see how the support and intervention that happens at HNC is transformational and young people who have experienced life-changing events and circumstances thrive, and achieve their ambitions.”Colin Knightley, Director of Safeguarding
